Social Media Project - Active Change. New Tactics and Methodologies for Advocacy

This manual promotes strategic thinking for people working in the field of human rights. It provides tools and tactics to achieve change, including identifying the problem, establishing a common vision, selecting the playground - using a tactical planning tool - uncovering and choosing tactics, and developing an implementation action plan.

New Tactics for Human Rights: Background and Fundamentals

This curriculum guide describes how to teach human rights and the philosophy of Sun Tzu. His lessons emphasize three sources of knowledge, including knowing yourself, knowing your opponent and knowing your playing ground. It describes new tactics for human rights, which is organized around the analysis of potential solutions rather than analysis of the issues.

The Use of Social Media in Civil Community Work

This presentation highlights the importance of community media to civil society organizations. It describes community media strategy, including preparing a timetable, setting goals, identifying the target group, choosing optimal sites, and achieving targets and timetables. In addition, it focuses on common mistakes to avoid.

The Building of Human Rights Culture (History and the Most Important International Treaties)

This guide highlights human rights culture and history in the last century, the Chinese philosopher Sun Tzu, and practical steps to increase human rights and legal awareness in communities. It describes how to build groups of activists who support human rights and strategies for encouraging communities, especially youth, to prevent human rights violations. Several examples are provided, such as the issue of human trafficking and how activists found supporters, pressured decision makers and influenced communities.

How the Community Knows its Needs and Resources

This manual for a workshop on resource evaluation methods introduces assessment tools for local needs and resources. It aims to increase opportunity for creativity and innovation among facilitators and local residents. The manual recommends using the base approach for community situational assessment and explains the importance of development needs assessments. Additional content includes: • Defining development needs, development assessments and the community needs assessment methodology. • Description of the foundations of community participation assessment methodology. • A detailed roadmap for facilitating the workshop and conducting an assessment, including field preparation and implementation.

Political Participation

Project: Towards Becoming an Entrepreneurial Society through Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship in Gaza

This presentation highlights obstacles to women’s political participation, including media constraints, and provides suggestions to develop women’s role. It focuses on Palestinian political life and participation in decision-making and also more broadly on international charters and covenants, including: civil and political rights, elimination of racial discrimination, elimination of discrimination against women (CEDAW), and increasing women’s participation in peacekeeping and conflict resolution initiatives.

Participant's Guide to Advocacy and Networking Strategies

This facilitator’s manual describes stages of CSO development and highlights financing, funding management, resource mobilization and challenges. Detailed information is provided for: • Funding: types of resources, corporate social responsibility and requirements for finance managers. • Networking: types of networks, their importance, benefits and downsides, and the role of advocacy and alliances. • Advocacy: characteristics and dynamics of successful advocacy campaigns, and methods for influencing policy and formulating advocacy objectives. • Research: suggestions for planning and utilizing public opinion and surveys of external members and groups.
