A Course in Critical Reading of Media
Organization: Keshev - The Center for the Protection of Democracy in Israel

This course provides a model for critical reading of the media and is targeted to students of secondary schools on the representation of the Arab minority in Israeli media. It includes a manual for secondary school instructors called "Communicating Peace," which suggests criteria for evaluating news coverage and includes modules for teaching about problematic news coverage of Jewish-Arab relations in the major Hebrew-language Israeli press.

The Role of School Journalism in Socialization and Enhancing Democratic Awareness

This curriculum focuses on school journalism in socialization and enhancing democratic awareness. The first of five sections explains the concept of school journalism and its role in enhancing democracy. Additional sections focus on the four dimensions of school journalism: media, administrative, educational and artistic. Examples are provided for each dimension, and proposed models of radio broadcasting in schools are presented.

Trainer's Guide: Workshop 1 - Social Media & Networked NGOs Overview and Strategic Planning

This presentation for E-Mediat's Workshop 1 includes two days of training material: Introduction to Social Media; and Creating a Social Media Strategy Plan. For each day, an agenda, framing, outcomes and learning objectives are included. A highlight is the discussion of networked NGOs understanding the difference between traditional and social media, and the role of social networks in civil society. Instructions are provided for trainers to customize and localize the material. The intended third day of the training was for coaching.
